Wherein Our Hero Has Luggage Issues

A good day never starts with a trip to the airport, so I was already resigned to less-than-good when I arrived at my local airport to fly to PyCon. A pity, but no more than an essential prelude to what was normally a pretty good time. I looked forward to renewing friendships with people I interact with all the time but only see through the face for one intense week every year. In short, the life of a geek in post-post-modern America.

I was coming to PyCon loaded for bear, with my trusty laptop and a touchscreen Thinkpad I wanted to give another chance after a fairly unimpressive experience at an earlier conference. As usual on such occasions I noticed some expressions of amusement and disbelief from fellow-travelers as I disgorged two laptops from my carry-on for inspection by a bored TSA team. For a believer in small government George W Bush sure hired a lot of people onto the payroll, in defiance of everything known about security from random acts of terror. But that's another story.

Yes, that's me. Two Laptop Man is in town, and looking to learn about Python.
